The BAVS Executive Committee are currently inviting applications for the position of postgraduate representative. This is a role shared between two students (currently Emma Butcher and Abby Boucher) with the successful applicant taking over from Emma at the end of October. This is a fun, social and rewarding role that puts you at the heart of BAVS’ fantastic community.
This two-year position involves maintaining and updating the Victorianist/BAVS website, blog and Twitter account, feeding back comments and questions to the Committee that are raised by students, and generally serving as a representative voice of the broad postgraduate community of BAVS. There is also scope for applicants to suggest and initiate further events or activities, such as the postgraduate professionalisation workshop at the annual conference.
If you are interested in applying for this role please send a one-page document to Emma (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Abby (email@example.com) introducing yourself and your research, detailing any relevant experience, and setting out ideas you may have for what you could bring to the position, events you’d like to see organised, further activities BAVS could provide for its postgrads, etc. Please send this by 30th September 2016. Nominations will then be publicised on the BAVS website/Victorianist and emailed to BAVS members. Following this, an online survey will be set up where BAVS members will be able to vote for their favoured representative. A nominations form is also required, which can be found below and must be sent to the Emma and Jo before the 30th September. Your nomination needs to be supported by two BAVS members (your supervisors are a good place to start.) Please do email the current representatives, Emma and Abby, at the email address provided above with any questions or concerns about the application process.
