‘Dickens, ‘Madness’, and Marriage’ – Victorian Studies Centre Annual Public Lecture, University of Leicester

Professor John Bowen, from the University of York, will be speaking on ‘Dickens, “Madness” and Marriage’ at the University of Leicester’s Victorian Studies Centre Annual Public Lecture on Wednesday 20 November 2019.

Professor Bowen’s talk is based on his research into newly discovered letters which show that Dickens attempted to have his wife, Catherine, put in a mental asylum. The lecture will take place at 5pm in Lecture Theatre 1, Ken Edwards Building, University of Leicester. There will be a Q&A and reception afterwards.

The event is FREE and open to all – and we would very much welcome BAVS colleagues! To book a place please visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dickens-madness-and-marriage-annual-victorian-studies-public-lecture-tickets-78016067157
