The Research Centre for the Humanities (REACH) at Aston University invites proposals for its ongoing monthly lecture series (commencing July 2022).
The remit of the series is the humanities from an interdisciplinary perspective, so we want to hear from humanities scholars whose research interacts with other subjects — but also from scholars of other disciplines whose research and expertise may provide new insights into traditional humanities-based subjects or methodologies. Speakers can attend in person or virtually.
The aim is that each event will comprise a guest speaker, an Aston academic, and an ECR/PGR, all providing different vantages upon the same theme. The first lecture in the series is quickly coalescing into ‘Biosciences and the Gothic’, so if you have relevant research to share then please get in touch. We also have plans for a range of topics going forward, including mathematical, economic, and media perspectives onto various aspects of the humanities.
If you’re interested, please send a proposal and your availability to Dr Daniel Jenkin-Smith (jenkind3@aston.ac.uk) and I’ll start combining your proposed topic with those of other potential speakers.
